John Pellegrino, Artistic Director / Bass
John Pellegrino enjoys being Principal Bass of ProMusica Chamber Orchestra (OH) and Peninsula Music Festival (WI), Assistant Principal Bass of Columbus Symphony Orchestra (OH), and Artistic Director of Music on the Hill (RI), as well as a member of Grand Teton Music Festival (WY). In the winter of 2022, John was appointed bass instructor at The Ohio State Universities. In the 1980s, he graduated from Toll Gate High School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Juilliard School. In 2008, John received the Ohio Private/Studio Teacher of the Year award given by the Ohio String Teachers Association. His students have won competitions offered by the International Society of Bassists, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Ohio String Teachers Association, Interlochen Arts Camp, and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as positions in major American orchestras. John was born and raised in Warwick, RI, and owes much to his family of music educators/performers, private teachers, the public school music program in Warwick, and to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
