John Norigian, Piano
John Norigian graduated with a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from Cleveland Institute of Music after finishing his Bachelor’s degree from URI. John has won numerous competitions, including the Collegiate division of the RI MTNA piano competition and URI’s concerto competition, and was a semi-finalist with his trio representing Cleveland Institute of Music in the Plowman Competition in Columbia, MO, and the Darius Milhaud Chamber Music Competition in Cleveland, OH. John has worked with Opera Providence and Encore opera, including musical direction for L’elisir d’amor. Most recently, he was musical director with Contemporary Theater Company of Wakefield, RI, with The Voice of Gertrude Stein and Coffee Milk Opera’s abridged La Boheme and Turandot. John is currently on the Suzuki piano faculty at RI Philharmonic Music School, and has taught at the Suzuki School of Newton, MA. He was the former organist and music director of St. Catherine Church in Warwick, RI, and now holds the position of organist and assistant choir director at Holy Apostles Church in Cranston, RI. He is adjunct professor and accompanist for CCRI’s music department, assistant director of South County Chamber Singers, and performs as collaborative pianist throughout New England.
